Upstart were the crowd responsible for poster bombing Dublin city centre during the 2011 general election. 100s of artists were involved and it was a great success.

On the videos section of the Upstart website we came across this gorgeous piece of silent Super8 footage. In keeping with the spirit of the project we decided to give it a soundtrack.

It’s no small task rebranding such a well known Irish company. The “Evolution” commercial was conceived & produced by Irish International with visuals from Piranha Bar and sound mix from Avondale. Original music, mnemonic sting and sound design by TheSoundButlers. We’ll be posting more from this project over the coming week.

Miller Lite “Break from the Crowd”

Occasionally we’re prone to take the time to rework the audio on other peoples projects, especially one we like the look of. It’s an opportunity for us to work on projects that we feel give us a better chance to showcase our skills and try out new techniques without the pressures associated with hitting deadlines or working to briefs.

Here’s a commercial for Miller Lite from 2007 entitled “Break from the Crowd” that we thought was ripe for an audio make-over. It’s a great piece of work, and we love the cinematic quality of the piece. We hope the original creators wont mind us giving it some audio treatment. It provides the opportunity for artists and filmmakers to showcase their work as well as providing a platform from which to nurture discussion on the subject of film and it’s related industries. Hasan Everywhere wins 2 DMAs!

Congratulations to Kavaleer who’ve taken home 2 Digital Media Awards for the animated short ‘Hasan Everywhere‘. The short will be playing the festivals this year so keep an eye out.

The film details the friendship between an Israeli novelist (Dorit Rabinyan) and a Palestinian artist (Hasan Hourani) from their first meeting in New York in the winter of 2002 to 6th August 2003, when Hasan tragically drowned near the Port of Jaffa.

The Sound Butlers were commissioned to score, sound design & mix the audio for the film.
